CAPE VERDE: ORLANDO PANTERA
Orlando Pantera had an important role in Cape Verde Music. He was the creator of the “new batuco” (neo-batuku). The “new batuco” came from “Batuco”, an improvised music with strong satirical or critical lyrics. Unfortunatly Pantera had an early death in 2001. But his work stills echoes at his country’s music.
